Where to Next For Rhys McKee

With a month now having past since Rhys McKee’s valiant performance against Terry Brazier at BAMMA Fight Night London it is time to ask what is next for one of the hottest prospects in European MMA, Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee.

The 22 year old Ballymena man took to Twitter recently to question KSW co-owner Martin Lewandowski about a possible place on the upcoming KSW 45 show in London this October.

Before posting a video of his dominant revenge win over Tim Barnett in February of last year.

Sources close to McKee have revealed that he has just one fight left on his current deal with BAMMA, however, this hasn’t stopped fighters like Paul ‘Redser’ Redmond negotiating a release to get on previous KSW shows whilst still being contracted to BAMMA. Redmond did the same in order to fight at KSW Dublin late last year and is now signed to Bellator.

Bellator European matchmaker Jude Samuel is said to be an admirer of McKee’s talents and McKee himself has commentated on the recent influx of U.K and Irish talent on his twitter account.

With BAMMA having recently lost so much talent to Bellator they will possibly be reluctant to let Mckee go temporarily or otherwise via a one fight release. The one fight release has blown up in their face more than once recently, with Aaron Chalmers being the highest profile among these. BAMMA are under pressure to deliver solid numbers following their recent ITV deal and may well reach deep into their pockets to keep the Next Gen N.I man at the company.

With Rhys being only 22 years old, already with an impressive CV it is an exciting time for him and British/Irish MMA, whoever ties him down to his next deal will be getting a proven entertaining fighter with plenty of appeal across both islands.
