Chris Weidman is injured and will not be able to contest the Middleweight World Title at UFC 199 against Luke Rockhold, that is according to FloSports.
FloCombat journalist Jeremy Botter has claimed that former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman is- once again- injured, and will be unable to try and reclaim his title in his scheduled rematch with Luke Rockhold at UFC 199.
As per Botter’s report:
“An injury has forced former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman out of his UFC 199 bout with Luke Rockhold.
Sources close to the story confirmed the news with FloCombat on Tuesday afternoon. Twitter user TalkMMA first mentioned the rumor [sic]”
Weidman, who defeated the legendary Anderson Silva to claim the belt, and then defeated him in the rematch, lost his title to Rockhold by TKO at UFC 194. There is no news yet as to the nature of the injury, or whether there will be a replacement, although Ronaldo Souza is a likely candidate following his dominant win over Vitor Belfort at UFC 198.
