What a year it’s been for boxing, one of their best years on record for the last while. Here is a brief preview of what promises to be one of the biggest fights of the year.
There are two titles on the line. The vacant WBO NABO Super Featherweight title is going to be decided when undefeated Puerto Rican Christopher Diaz takes on American Bryant Cruz. Diaz is 21 – 0 – 0 with 13 KO’s while Cruz is 18 – 2 – 0 with 9 KO’s to his name.
Another fight on the card to watch out for is Michael Conlan, who is putting his 4 – 0 – 0 streak on the line against the more experienced Luis Fernando Molina who is 7 – 3 – 1. Conlan who has a very impressive amateur background and is one of a few fighters who can fight both Orthodox and Southpaw. He is one of Top Ranks hot prospects with 4 KO’s from his victories.
And then in the main event, 2 of the best Southpaw defensive fighters and 2 of the best amateurs in the world and have 2 Olympic Gold Medals. Vasyl Lomanchenko puts his WBO Super Featherweight Championship on the line against undefeated Guillermo Rigondeaux. For casual fans, this probably won’t be the best fight to see but for real boxing fans it doesn’t get any better. 2 magicians in the ring who are known for offensive boxing but have incredible defence and are hard to punch. This has all the potential to top Canelo vs Golovkin earlier this year. It will be a human game of chess at its best.
