UK Fighter Wins on the 22nd Time of Asking

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.”

Over the weekend one of MMA’s longest losing streaks got snapped as Andy Cona (1-21) won his fight at MACHINE MMA 11 in England by TKO in less than twenty seconds. His opponent this time out was Darren Wilkinson, who was making his professional debut (according to his Sherdog).

UK professional fighter and MMA media member Jay Furness confirmed on twitter that the news that this was Cona’s first win.

Cona had lost his first 21 professional bouts (20 recorded on Sherdog) never going the distance in any of them. In fact “The Immortal” never made it out of the first round in any of them and has been either KO’d or TKO’d in at least 11 of them.

Many on the UK MMA scene have admired Cona’s heart and determination but also worried for his health and safety. However, now after 22 fights in nearly four years on competing professionally Andy Cona finally has his win.
