UFC Fight Night 113: Nelson vs Ponzinibbio Prelims Breakdown

This Sunday marks the return of the UFC to Glasgow. Here is the Prelims breakdown. As always card subject to change.

(Women’s Bantamweight) Leslie Smith vs Amanda Lemos: We start off the night with an interesting bout. Leslie Smith is the more experienced with a record of 9 – 7 – 1 while her opponent Amanda Lemos is making her UFC debut right now is on a record of 6 – 0 – 1. Both are known for knockouts while Smith can also go the distance. If she wants to pick up the victory she will have to maintain her pace and cardio throughout the fight.

(Bantamweight) Brett Johns vs Albert Morales: Brett Johns is an unbeaten prospect who came from the UK MMA scene, he will be known to most of you from Cage Warriors where he was the Bantamweight champion. He was meant to appear on the UFC London O2 arena fight night but his opponent wasn’t medically cleared on the day of the fight so he has bided his time. Albert Morales who is stepping in for Mitch Gagnon on short notice picked up his first UFC win in his last outing. Both are all rounders with Johns having more fights under his belt. Could go either way but expect Johns to be tenacious, spirited and fully up to impress the crowd in his long awaited UFC debut.

(Lightweight) Danny Henry vs Daniel Teymur: Next we have Scotland vs Sweden. Both men are making their UFC debut, Henry who is representing the Scots has a record of 10 – 2 – 0 while Teymur (younger brother of David Teymur) has a record of 6 – 0 – 0 with an extensive striking background. Both men like to finish and want to make an impression. The edge certainly will go to Henry here fighting on home soil and is riding the crest of a very successful stint in South African promotion EFC.

(Welterweight) Charlie Ward vs Galore Bofando: This should be an interesting one, Ward who is representing SBG Ireland lost his UFC debut after being knocked out in the first round and he will look to wrong that right and live up to the reputation his gym has laid down. His opponent Bofando is making his UFC debut, check out #WHOATV’s podcast with Bofando and accompanying interview. Many are claiming Bofando was hand picked to come into the UFC to lose to Ward. Bofando is a flashy knock out artist and I see this fight being an even one .

(Flyweight) Alexandre Pantoja vs Neil Seery: One of the more veteran fights on the card. Pantoja is relatively new to UFC beating Eric Shelton by decision back in January however he is on a 10 fight win streak. Seery who is a former CWFC Flyweight champion. Both men are all rounders but Pantoja has youth on his side with Seery giving up 10 years. It’s Seery’s airwell fight as he looks to leave his gloves in the Octagon so expect a balls to the wall performance from the Irishman.

(Welterweight) Danny Roberts vs Bobby Nash: Danny Roberts is a CWFC alumnus and is on a record of 13 – 2 – 0 and is an all rounder, Nash however is 9 – 2 – 0 but has never submitted however he does have a BJJ background and Roberts will look to take him to the ground. Both men need a win having lost their last fight. Out of the two Roberts will be looking to put on a clinic and make a dominant statement so expect lots of stand up exchanges and merciless knees from Roberts.

That’s our breakdown, check out the action on Fight Pass and BT Sport. Let us know your thoughts below, on Facebook and Twitter and check back tomorrow for the main card breakdown.
