Next up we had a light heavyweight bout with fan favourite Tom “Filthy” Lawlor facing off against Corey “Beastin 25/8” Anderson.
The 1st round started off with both fighters coming out aggressively, it was Lawlor who got the better of the initial exchanges with Anderson looking like he was in some real trouble early on. “Filthy” stepped of the gas a little in the 2nd half of the round but he was still landing the better of the shots. Solid 1st round with Lawlor in the lead.
2nd round started off with more of the same, Lawlor being the aggressor, all the while landing some solid strikes. In the middle third of the round Anderson began to find his feet a little bit, with Lawlor still looking for the big KO. The round closed with both fighters landing some significant blows which led to Lawlor looking for the take down which he did not complete. Definitely a more competitive round.
Early in round three Anderson got a take down which immediately placed him in side control but Lawlor quickly cinched up half guard. Anderson landed some ground and pound from top position, nothing noteworthy however, John McCarthy stood the fight up soon after. Neither fighter managed to land anything significant before the end of the third but I gave it to Anderson.
Result: Corey Anderson, Unanimous Decision.
