“The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Ken Shamrock recently came clean about his steroid use. The UFC Hall of Famer and former WWE superstar admitted that use has used steroids in the past but never competed while on them.
He then goes on to suggest how to combat the problem of steroid use in MMA by using random year-round testing on all athletes while saying that some of the top guys can afford to hide their use.
Alan’s Angle: Interesting to hear this from someone who has been on top of the UFC and been around some of the biggest names. I am sure this was a major problem back in his day of the UFC but no as much of a problem now due to the UFC’s insistence of regular testing of their athletes either by themselves or the athletic commissions. However in saying that, there are always rumours going around that some of the top fighters are using and I am a firm believer of ‘there is no smoke without fire’.
I am in favour of what Shamrock suggested of year-round random drug testing. This should be used across the board in any professional sports.
