Middleweight Yoel Romero is potentially the latest fighter to violate the USADA anti-doping policy.
USADA claim that the breach of violation came from an “out-of-competition sample” although at the time of writing this article it is unknown what the failure is.
Romero, who defeated Jacare Souza at UFC 194 was almost certainly next in line to get a shot at new UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold, however, this could potentially put a stop to that.
The UFC have released a statement on the issue as follows;
The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
