Another day another verbal attack from a top UFC fighter. This seems to be the life of Conor McGregor.
In the past we’ve had Anthony Pettis saying he would fight him, TJ Dillashaw saying he won’t be champ for long, run in with Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes wanting a rematch and Frankie Edgar on the side. Now UFC lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos has weighed-in on the brash Irishman.
“McGregor’s really scrawny. Aldo would destroy him. He’s not even close to being top five,” said dos Anjos.
The Brazilian then gave his assessment to Combate (via MMANews.com) of McGregor’s performance against Chad Mendes at UFC 189.
“This guy’s no good. Aldo would destroy him. Chad Mendes, if prepared, would destroy him and he showed. I saw McGregor, he’s really scrawny, like a little chicken. Chad Mendes is strong, but not Conor. He was exposed in that fight. That’s who he is. I never saw Chad walking backwards in a fight, he’s always pressuring and a minute in the guy was exhausted.”
With McGregor’s inevitable move back up to lightweight, dos Anjos says he would be happy to face McGregor and that it would be easy money.
“I would love for him to move up to lightweight. It would be easy money to beat that kid,” said dos Anjos. “I would love to welcome him at lightweight in Ireland. It’s hard to say how the fight would go, but it would be agressive. I would punch him hard and go hard on him because he breaks.”
