BAMMA have just added another big name in Irish MMA to the massive card taking place in the 3Arena in Dublin this September. The press release reads as follows;
Alan ‘The Apprentice’ Philpott (13-7) from Ballymena, Northern Ireland joins the historic first ever BAMMA card in Dublin after his debut at BAMMA 20. Fighting out of Next Gen NI alongside Conor ‘Da Crook’ Cooke & Arnauld ‘The Ulster Frog’ Dos Santos, Philpott is not taking the rising star that is Regis Sugden lightly. The well rounded Northern Irish Bantamweight standout is looking to make an impact with an army of local support on September 19th as he challenges for the Lonsdale title.
“BAMMA coming to Dublin is exciting as this island needs a big show. Since BAMMA has come back they have been pulling the shows put of the bag. It’s good for the Northern and Southern Irish fighters as it means our supporters can get to our fights easier.
The 3 Arena is massive and will be a good taste of what it’s like on the big stage. I’m excited about my fight with Regis. I like him he’s a good kid with bags of talent. Saying that, I know I am the better all round fighter. He has had a couple of wins and is looking good, though anyone can look good against bums!
I will be fired up and back to my normal self in this fight. I actually think Regis is a bigger threat than Ed. When I fought him I was too calm and I didn’t like it. I couldn’t even get out of 1st gear and I was smashing him.
This time I will be going for it from the start. I am getting back to finishing my opponents and getting my name back in line for the title. I lost and everyone was talking about me. When I win everyone will still talk about me. I can’t want to represent northern Ireland and get back to my winning ways.
“No ninos solo hombre”
Regis ‘The First’ Sugden has made the BAMMA Bantamweights sit up and take notice after his explosive debut at BAMMA 17 against Paul Bentley. Dispatching Manuel ‘Sugar’ Billic & Ant ‘Submission Magician’ Phillips (at BAMMA 18 & 20) in short order, he was soon banging down matchmaker, Jude Samuel’s door for a step up in competition. In being granted his wish, the striking sensation is relishing the matchup. With the BAMMA Lonsdale Title on the line, Sugden is planning to go all out in Dublin to grab the gold.
“Better opponent, same intentions, same result… Be ready!”
