With the next UFC Fight Island instalment, Bellator’s historical French debut and KSW 55 all taking place on Saturday, you’d be forgiven for missing the return of Spanish MMA in the deluge of world class events scheduled for the weekend.
Set to take place in Barcelona on Saturday night, AFL VALKYRIES sees Spanish MMA return to the fold following the COVID-19 global pandemic. Originally pencilled in for March, Saturday night marks the first event for the Spanish promotion since AFL 22 back in November last year.
Named after the female gods of war in Norse mythology, AFL VALKYRIES will be the first major all-female MMA event in Europe as well as being the first MMA event in Spain since the coronavirus outbreak.
In the main event, the vacant strawweight title will be on the line as former Dana White Contender Series competitor Micol di Segni takes on French veteran Audrey ‘AK47’ Kerouche. In the co-main event, rising Brazilian star Emily Motta faces Spain’s Rita Marrero for the vacant atomweight title.
The event can be watched on Saturday night on FITE
