A pair of UFC veteran’s will clash tomorrow night (Friday) at Titan Fighting Championship 29 in North Carolina, USA. TUF 16 runner-up Mike Ricci (9-4) takes on dangerous grappler George Sotiropoulos (14-6).
The fight was originally scheduled for April but an injury suffered to Ricci postponed it until tomorrow, that has meant that Sotiropoulos hasn’t competed in nearly a year. Ricci, on the other hand, competed last in February in a one sided domination of UFC and Strikeforce veteran Jorge Gurgel at Titan FC 28.
Australian Sotiropoulos will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering four defeats in a row before his UFC release. Once on one of the hottest runs in the UFC, seven wins, the past four defeats meant the 36-year-old hasn’t won a fight since 2010.
28-year-old Ricci, a training partner to GSP, had a major cloud put over him following his UFC run where he went 1-2. People seemed to think he never lived up to his potential but if he follows up his first round stoppage of Jorge Gurgel with an impressive win over ‘Sots’ he will be well on the way to proving doubters wrong.
