Matt Mitrione has become the latest fighter to ride out his UFC contract and test free agency and it seems that Bellator have a very big cheque book when it comes to picking up former UFC fighters.
Mitrione announced his signing on the MMA Hour alongside reporter Ariel Helwani. Mitrione has spent his entire MMA career with the UFC after coming off of the Ultimate Fighter Heavyweight season and competed in fourteen bouts going 9-5 during his six year stint.
Mitrione joins the likes of Benson Henderson and Josh Thomson who both made the move across to Bellator after seeing out their UFC contracts.
And it seems Bellator match maker Rich Chou is keen to get Mitrione matched up in the Heavyweight division asap;
Thanks! My fault on the last name! Drew a blank and scrambled! Let's get me a fight scheduled https://t.co/tDsZrdpfzG
