The shocking news that Brock Lesnar was set to return to MMA at UFC 200 was quickly followed by speculation as to his potential opponent. Last week, Mark Hunt was named as the man to welcome him back to the Octagon, and one fan has put together a compilation to underline the scale of the task facing Lesnar.
In a 17 year career in kickboxing and MMA, Hunt has built a reputation a one of the heaviest hitters in the business, while his forthcoming opponent, despite only fighting on eight occasions, became known as someone who buckled in the face of powerful striking.
Former UFC light-heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell echoed this sentiment earlier this week when talking to Hollywood Life:
“He was a good college wrestler, but he is afraid to get hit. That makes things dangerous — when you have a guy that can punch, and if he can stop Brock’s takedowns a little bit, then he’s in a lot of trouble.
“I mean, he is tough and has heart because he will still fight and still keep coming and I will give him that. He has heart and he fights hard, but he is very afraid of the punch. So you just have to start punching him!”
Lesnar has controversially been allowed to fight having been granted an exemption from the USADA’s anti-doping standards. Hunt last week accused the wrestler of being “juiced to the gills”.
