Kimbo Slice signs with Bellator

Everyone’s favourite backyard scrapper is coming back to the sport of MMA. Kimbo Slice left MMA in 2010 after being released by the UFC following his loss to Matt Mitrione. He posted an overall 4-2 record with notable wins over Houston Alexander, Tank Abbott and a controversial win over James Thompson.

He chose to then pursue a career in boxing and enjoyed minor success there winning all 7 fights (6 by KO) over the course of two and a half years. The level of opposition he faced in boxing has been questionable.

But now after almost 5 years since his last MMA fight the 40-year-old Kimbo has signed with Bellator according to CombatPress.com. It is expected that Bellator will make the official announcement at the event later tonight.

Alan’s Angle: Great move by Bellator. Kimbo will never be a world beater but he is a major draw. He creates fan interest and there are a number of match-ups that could be made that should put eyes on their product. A re-match with James Thompson is one I would like to see and also a fight with Cheick Kongo.
