Northern Ireland’s highly touted undefeated light heavyweight Karl Moore (5-0) has been ruled out of his scheduled fight in Italy this weekend. Moore was slated to face Mauro Cerilli (7-0) at Venator Fighting Championship in Bologna this Saturday night.
In a statement released by the promotion on their facebook page it was said that Moore broke his ribs in a recent training session. And while this could rule him out for a while it is said that the FAI fighter could be fighting in the promotion in the near future.
Moore impressed last year in Cage Warriors with his finish over Richie Knox and a decision win over Llyod Clarkson last August. Previously Moore had found it tough to find fights on the local Irish scene but still managed to wrack off three impressive wins without looking in too much danger in any of them.
This would have been the biggest fight in his career thus far as it would have been his first fight outside of the UK & Ireland and Cerilli had just recently enjoyed a unanimous decision win over UFC, Cage Rage & KSW vet James Zikic (21-10-2), establishing Cerilli as one of Europe’s top prospects.
