Jon Jones Manager: I Know He’s Not a Cheater

Jon Jones‘ manager Malki Kawa has appeared on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to defend his fighter following the news that the ‘B Sample’ from his failed drug test had also tested positive.

Jon Jones famously withdrew from his fight with Daniel Cormer just three days before he was due to fight for the light heavyweight title at UFC 200. The same day he appeared at a press conference in which he denied deliberately taking any performance enhancing drug.

Speaking on the MMA Hour, Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, defended his fighter and claimed he knew for a fact that Jones would never cheat:

“It’s not that we’re trying to hide anything, we’re not trying to get ahead of it and tell people what it is. I’m going to stand by our comments at the press conference. Jon at no point in time is a cheater, has ever cheated, has never taken any substance that you know, he knowingly knew of that was on the banned list.

“I know for a fact that Jon isn’t a cheater and I know for a fact that Jon didn’t take anything knowingly

“I’m going to stand by until the day that I die. I don’t care how this turns out. You know what I mean?

“That’s just one thing about this guy, he is not a cheater.”

With the fighter’s B Sample also testing positive, it now seems inevitable that ‘Bones’ will be on the receiving end of a ban which could be as long as two years.
