Speaking to WHOA TV in London, SBG’s James Gallagher is pretty fired up. Having traded his place on Friday’s Bellator 179 card for the more iconic venue of Madison Square Garden in July for Bellator 180 against a very highly touted opponent, Chinzo Machida, he is keen to point out that being the company man that led to his inclusion.
“Just give me a shot at MSG, give me anyone you want!” Gallagher told the Bellator brass. “I’ll fight anyone, it doesn’t matter, I’ll take anyone there is.”
The brash Irishman’s demands were met and the rest is history. The talented prospect is under no illusion as to the challenge that he has yet to face and is well aware of the step up in competition he will come up against.
“He’s got the Karate style but everyone forgets that’s where I started. I started with a Shotokan Karate background.”
Not one to usually look forward and past his next opponent, when pressed on his recent back and forth with Bellator prospect AJ McKee, Gallagher was keen to clear up McKee’s recent comments where he questioned Gallagher’s assertion that he had coached him on how to beat his teammate, Anthony Taylor.
“He’s fake.” Gallagher scoffed. “He’s just trying to bum up to the cameras and get a bit of hype going.”
