Golden Glory founder dead after shooting in Amsterdam

Ron Nyqvist, one of the founding members of Golden Glory, was found dead in a carpark in Amsterdam yesterday morning it has been learned.

46-year-old Nyqvist had just recently been released from prison after serving a number of years for a pair of murders. The reported the following information:

“A firearm was found next to the man. Nyqvist was accompanied by a woman, who was found to be in shock and taken to the hospital, police stated. The incident happened at about 10:45 a.m.

“The German-born 46 year old died from injuries related to the shooting in a parking garage on Bart Poesiatstraat. He had just been released from a 20-year jail sentence for the murder of two Brabant brothers, says Het Parool.”

It was also reported that police have not ruled out the possibility of a suicide and are investigating a number of scenarios.

Golden Glory is one of the most famous kickboxing & MMA camps and management team in the world. Notable fights that have passed through the doors there include Semmy Schilt, Gokhan Saki, Marloes Coenen, Errol Zimmerman, and Sergei Kharitonov to name just a few.

You might remember the contract dispute between the UFC (ZUFFA) and Golden Glory over Alistair Overeem and a couple more fighters a few of years ago after the acquisition of Strikeforce.
