Fox Sports Host: McGregor/Mayweather Could Happen!

Fox Sports 1 host, Colin Cowherd has sensationally claimed that he has heard from reliable sources that the Conor McGregor Vs Floyd Mayweather showdown will take place in Las Vegas this September.

Although both UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and retired boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather have both spoken of the possibility of fighting one another, few serious commenators believed the fight would really take place, let alone any time soon.

However, on Monday Fox Sports 1 host, Cowherd, was adamant that sources close to McGregor had said the bout was going to go ahead and that he had rented property in Las Vegas for the date so he could be in attendance.

According to Cowherd:

“My intel is Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen. It changed late last week. I got a call then somebody else sent me something [Sunday] and Saturday. We’ve booked rooms in Vegas… in September,”

“Mayweather did have a very bad last pay-per-view gate, 550,000 people. He tries to get two to three million,” Cowherd continued. “So I think this is the most profitable fight for CBS and Mayweather. CBS has been working with Mayweather for years. That’s why his fights are on Showtime, because CBS owns Showtime.

“So Les Moonves and the CBS peeps have decided, ‘let’s talk to the Fox and UFC peeps’ and you’ve got Fox and CBS, you’ve got UFC, you’ve got boxing, you’ve got Floyd, you’ve got Conor. It’s gonna make a lot of money for people.”

Despite Dana White’s denials- and the probability McGregor would be beaten comfortably- the UFC President might potentially warm to the idea if the deal were right. Talks with Nate Diaz about a rematch last week did not go smoothly, and few events would garner quite so much publicity for the promotion.
