As announced today BAMMA will be joining forces with Bellator MMA to bring a show to the 3 Arena in Dublin on 16th December.
No further information has been announced yet in regards to any fights or if any Titles will be on the line. So in typical #WHOATV we have devised a few fights we would like to see on the show and just remember folks this is all fantasy;
Alan Philpott Vs Tom Duquesnoy
You have to think that the promoters will be doing all they can to get this fight added to the show. Philpott called for Duquesnoy after this last fight and the reaction from the 3 Arena pretty much said it all. I have heard that Philpott suffered an injury during a holiday which could potentially put a halt to this one but with all things being good they would be stupid not to get this huge Title fight on the card.
Jai Herbert Vs Rhys McKee
Someones 0 has got to go! This fight would be a huge fight between two of the best up and coming prospects who will both in my eyes be contending for a Title later in their careers. BAMMA may not put them together in a move to build both men up but you can guarantee that if this fight doesn’t take place on 16th December then it will probably happen further down the line.
Martin Stapleton Vs Brendan Loughnane
If the rumours are true then Stapleton’s next bout will be at 145lbs and who better than Brendan Loughnane to welcome him to the Featherweight division. I think this is really one of those “super fights” which I would love to see and really brings together two of the best British fighters. Both men are probably only ever one or two fights away from Title contention and the winner could easily slip into a Featherweight Title bout depending on what Duquensoy decides to do at that time.
Linton Vassell Vs Paul Craig
None of us know what will happen with Titles and stuff and thats the best part of putting together a fantasy fight card. I would love to see Paul Craig tested at 205lbs and I personally don’t see many BAMMA Light Heavyweights who can give him that true test. Whereas Bellator have a strong 205lbs division and Linton Vassell would definitely give him a run for his money, regardless of whether or not his shiny belt would be on the line.
Paul Redmond Vs Ryan Couture
I think this would be a very interesting grappling contest between veterans of the sport and would be a worthy win for either man. Redmond grinded out a decision at #BAMMA26 and Couture is coming off the back of a loss to Patricky Freire. Both men will be looking to make a statement in their next outing to move back towards the top of their respective Lightweight divisions and a big win in this one would propel the winner back to the top.
James Gallagher Vs Niklas Backstrom
Ok lets work on the assumption that Gallagher runs through Kirill Medvedovski at Bellator 164, comes out injury free and is back in the gym the following day. Well how about we then match him up with an experienced fighter like Niklas Backstrom. There will come a time when Gallagher makes that step up in competition and doing it in front of his hometown crowd could be the perfect opportunity. Backstrom would have the opportunity to put an end to Gallagher’s hot streak and Gallagher would have the chance to solidify himself against a top European fighter.
