The UK’s Marc Diakiese will take on Rafael Alves on November 13th at UFC Vegas 42 which is headlined by Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez. A source close to the fight confirmed the matchup exclusively to WHOA TV. The clash is a rebooking after the pair were originally due to meet at UFC London, but elements of that card were later moved to Las Vegas.
It’s a lightweight match up and many will remember that Alves missed weight by 12.5 pounds in February whilst at featherweight, many online have dubbed that one of the most egregious transgression in the promotion’s weigh-ins history. The Brazilian, who put the record weight miss down to eating salmon, subsequently moved up in weight where he dropped a decision loss to Damir Ismagulov in May.
Diakiese, who was last seen in his exciting clash with Rafael Fiziev in July of last year, will be eager to get back to the win column. Signed to the promotion in 2016 he’s put on a dizzying array of fan favourite fights. After dropping three losses on the bounce Diakiese adjusted his style and output putting on mature performances against Joe Duffy and Lando Vannata.
Each man brings an interesting array of skills to the table. Both are tenacious showmen who the promotion are keen to get behind. The clash has fight of the night written all the way through this matchup. With both men effectively looking for redemption this is definitely one not to miss.
