Sources close to the fighters have revealed to #WHOATV that the eagerly anticipated rematch between fierce rivals Josh Koshceck and Paul Daley will indeed take place this Summer when Bellator pitches up in London for the first time in the promotion’s history. With the ink now dry on both contracts this will undoubtably present an intriguing re-match for fans of both fighters.
It has been several years since UFC 113 and the now infamous incident that occurred after the final bell that resulted in Daley’s last fight with the UFC. Now both men, equally wiser and mature in both fighting ability and mindset will finally meet in July at London’s 02 Arena. Joining them in the co-main event spot in what is turning out to be a main fight card seemingly packed with UK vs USA match ups will be Kimbo Slice vs James Thompson II.
Both Slice and Thompson first met in 2008 on the now defunct Elite XC promotion where they drew unprecedented TV viewership numbers for the time, the scale of which has very rarely been replicated for mixed martial arts. The fight brings to a close many years of both fighters openly welcoming a rematch.
The event that takes place at London’s O2 is part of the aggressive expansion of the North American promotion which see’s Bellator enter Italy for the first time when it presents its headline fight between Patricky “Pitbull” Freire and Kevin Souza at Bellator 152 in Turin this Saturday.
We will be bringing you more news on the card which is rumoured to be a who’s who of UK and Irish Mixed Martial Arts talent following the press conference due to take place in London this coming Monday.
