Eight fights spanning just 18 months, five finishes, wins over four of the top 10 fighters, and four ‘OTN’ bonuses. This has been Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone’s recent run the in UFC and now he will finally get his shot at the title. Dana White confirmed the news with ESPN.

“‘Cowboy’ looked insanely good,” White said to ESPN. “He kept his composure, put together combinations to the legs and head. He looked unbelievable. I will give you this, yes, Cowboy Cerrone is next in line for a title shot.”

At the post-fight press conference ‘Cowboy’ was asked about a potential title fight with dos Anjos and he said he would be willing to wait for it while hinting that it could happen in Denver, Colorado, his home town.

“I would love to wait,” Cerrone said post-fight. “Well, I’ll wait for Denver, Colorado. Can I say that? I’ll wait for Denver, Colorado.”

No official date has been set for a UFC event in Denver.

Rafael dos Anjos captured the title earlier this year beating Anthony Pettis by unanimous decision at UFC 185. The Brazilian is also the last man to beat Cerrone when he took the decision almost two years ago.
