UFC 202 is shaping up to be one of the strongest events of 2016 with the news that two-time welterweight challenger Carlos ‘The Natural Born Killer’ Condit will face Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Demian Maia at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.
After Condit’s narrow decision loss to Robbie Lawler, the long-time Greg Jackson student wondered aloud whether or not he was finished with the sport, but that question has been firmly put to bed with the news he will face one of the division’s leading title-contenders, in a fight that would leave the victor with a strong case for a shot at the belt.
Elsewhere, Glover Teixeira will finally meet Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson after their planned fight was pulled from UFC on Fox, and Donald Cerrone will have a chance to prove whether he can be a genuine force in the welterweight division as he squares off with the ever gritty Rick “The Horror” Story.
