It has been announced that Andy Young (6-7-1) will be competing for the flyweight title at UCMMA 44 in London on September 5th. His opponent with be UK veteran Spencer ‘The Hurt Locker’ Hewitt.
Young be looking to bounce back after a recent setback at M-1 in Kazakhstan. Naturally a flyweight, Young competed the first ever bantamweight fight in M-1 history but lost via a third round TKO to the undefeated Sergey Morozov (4-0).
This fight was Young’s first fight in over a year after the Next Gen NI fighter found his hard to get matched at flyweight following the collapse of Cage Warriors, to which he was exclusively signed.
Hewitt last competed at Cage Warriors’ Super Saturday last June in a losing effort against Brett Caswell (7-1).
Since 2012 Andy Young has went 5-3 and Hewitt has went 4-6. Both fighters share one common opponent, Paul Marin, Hewitt lost via submission while Young fought to a close decision but ultimately lost in what was voted one of the best fights of 2014 by MMAJunkie.com.
UCMMA 44 takes place in the Troxy, London on September 5th.
