Andy Young set to challenge for the BCMMA title this weekend

Less than a month after he captured the UCMMA flyweight title with a decision win against Spencer Hewitt in London Andy Young (7-7) is set to challenge for another UK title.

The Next Gen NI fighter will compete against the undefeated Luis Gonzalez (4-0) at BCMMA 12 in Colchester, Essex with the BCMMA flyweight title on the line.

Young will be looking at this as an opportunity to put the disappointing back-to-back losses against Paul Marin in CW and Sergey Morozov in M-1 well and truly behind him. Two wins in-a-row and two prominent UK titles will surely put Young in a good position heading into 2016.

However he has his hands full with Gonzalez. The Team Titan fighter made his pro debut just last year and racked off four straight first round submission wins. His first three wins were against fighters who have a combined record of 1-7 but in his last fight he beat promising Swedish fighter Fredrik Jostelius (3-1).

This has the potential to be a very interesting fight as both fighters like to bring it. Young has also not been submitted since he fought Alan Philpott back in 2011 which adds an interesting sub plot to the fight along with Gonzalez being undefeated.

BCMMA 12 takes place this Saturday and will feature John Maguire vs. Aldric Cassata and James Pennington vs. Elias Boudegzdame in the main event.
