Earlier this year it was revealed that Anderson Silva failed drug tests around his marquee fight against Nick Diaz. Silva had failed for drostanolone metabolites and androstane amongst others.
Brazilian site Combate reported that Silva’s lawyer said that contaminated Viagra is to blame for the failed tests.
“Silva was administering or using a supplement for the purpose of enhancing sexual performance and testing of the supplement revealed that the supplement was contaminated with an Exogenous Anabolic Agent: Drostanolone metabolite.”
40-year-old Anderson Silva will finally face a disciplinary hearing tomorrow in Nevada and according to MMAFighting.com Silva and his team are “asking that the NAC take no disciplinary action against Silva, including any kind of fine or suspension” and that they do not “overturn the fight result to a no contest.”
