A bout between the UK’s powerful striker Jimi Manuwa and Polish fighter Jan Blachowicz looks set to be signed in the coming days according to a source very close to the negotiations.
Poland in early April is the rumoured host country which means that this could be the UFC’s first foray into the Eastern European country a move that fits nicely with the promotions aspiration to bring their brand closer to a Polish audience.
April 11th is the only date on the UFC’s previously announced schedule that is yet to be filled so that would seem to be the likely date of the event.
Manuwa, who suffered his first career loss at the hands of Alexander Gustafsson back in March of last year will be keen to get back to winning ways when he faces the Polish mixed martial artist on a six fight win streak. Blachowicz, who put in a dominant 1st round TKO in his last outing against Ilir Latifi, spoiled the Swedes plan to secure a win in front of his home nation on October 4, 2014.
It will undoubtably please Blachowicz’s home grown fan base, and as it’s a stone’s throw away, relatively, from the UK, you can expect a strong contingent of fans to make the journey in the hopes of seeing another of Manuwa’s powerful finishes.
