Leading mixed martial arts promotion Bellator MMA today confirmed the signing of undefeated former Cage Warriors champion, Ross “The Hitman” Houston (8-0, 1 NC)
Houston, who fights out of Inverness, Scotland, will compete in the Bellator welterweight division, a weight class in which he has already enjoyed great success in a burgeoning professional mixed martial arts career.
The 28-year-old has won all eight of his professional bouts to date, excluding one no contest. Houston made his professional debut in March 2016 and quickly established himself within the sport, embarking on a winning streak of submission and decision victories which earned him a shot at the Cage Warriors title in 2018.
Facing Italy’s Stefano Paterno at the Genting Arena, Birmingham, on October 20, 2018, Houston secured the Cage Warriors world welterweight belt via a five-round, split decision win.
His last fight for the promotion was a three-round epic battle in June 2019, against ex-UFC welterweight Nicolas Dalby, which ended in a no contest.
In signing with Bellator, Houston joins an impressive cast of Scottish athletes which includes Robert Whiteford, Chris Duncan and Chris Bungard – who becomes the first Scot to headline a Bellator card when he tops the bill of the Bellator 240 portion of Bellator Dublin this weekend.
Whilst a date has not been set for his Bellator debut, Houston is expected to make his first appearance for the promotion during 2020.
