Welsh welterweight contender Lewis Long will return to action on home soil as Cage Warriors returns to Newport on October 14
Welsh fan favourite Lewis Long returns home in the main event of Cage Warriors 87 on October 14.
Long (15-4) will play the starring role in Newport when he takes on Roberto Soldic in the welterweight main event at the Newport Centre.
Long has his eyes fixed on a shot at the Cage Warriors welterweight title having lost just once in four years. During that spell he has picked up eight wins, with all eight victories coming inside the distance.
Long’s last three wins all came inside the first round and his last outing saw him claim a quickfire win over Che Mills at Cage Warriors 83.
Now, he faces a dangerous test against in-form Soldic (11-2), who is riding a five-fight win streak with all five coming via KO/TKO. The 22-year-old Bosnian arrives in the UK to make his Cage Warriors debut knowing victory over respected contender Long will catapult him towards title contention in the welterweight division.
Long vs Soldic tops a packed fight card that features the cream of rising Welsh fighting talent.
Featherweight Jack ‘Tank’ Shore returns to action against Federico Mini, while fellow Welshmen Aaron Khalid and Richard Williams take on Ross Houston and Scott Clist respectively.
