Although it might not be the last show of the year UFC 194 on December 12th is shaping to be the big end of year show.
We already knew that the featherweight unification fight between champ Jose Aldo and interim-champ Conor McGregor would be the main event on the Vegas card but now we have received word of a massive co-main event.
Middleweight champion Chris Weidman (13-0) will defend his title against rival Luke Rockhold (14-2). The two have long had verbal exchanges, some playful and some with a little venom.
Rockhold, a former Strikeforce middleweight champ, earned the title shot after winning his past four fights beating Bisping, Machida, Boetsch and Philippou and getting ‘OTN’ honours in three of those fights.
Weidman has defended his title three times now, all against Brazilian opposition in Silva, Machida and Belfort. This fight marks the first time in over ten years since two Americans competed in a middleweight title fight. The last being Rich Franklin vs. Nate Quarry at UFC 56 in June, 2005.
