Pride legends and former UFC light heavyweight champions Maricio ‘Shogun’ Rua (23-10) and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson (36-11) have a provisionally agreed to a rematch, ten years after their fight at Pride FC: Total Elimination 2005.
Rampage issued the challenge to Shogun via social media after the Brazilian won his fight against Lil’ Nog at UFC 190 on Saturday night. “I’ll fight him any time, any day, any time,” responded Shogun via FOX Sports.
This is a fight 37-year-old Rampage wants. The last time they met he lost via soccerkicks in the first round, one he’s most brutal losses. Now all they have to wait for is Rampage to get through the contract dispute with Bellator and for Dana White to give the fight the green light.
“Nothing but respect for (Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua) but this is one rematch I need,” ‘Rampage’ wrote. “As soon as I’m over this Bellator BS lets get it popping. It’s not gonna be like the last time we fought. I was very embarrassed about that fight, this fight will make up for that one. Thanks for accepting my rematch. Let’s hope Dana makes it happen.”
