American MMA promotion BattleGrounds MMA will provide one of the biggest paydays in independent MMA when it hosts its O.N.E (one night elimination) event on June 27th in Oklahoma. 8 men will battle it out over the course of the evening for the chance to walk away with a cool $50,000 pay check.
6 of the 8 participants were announced during the week and amongst them is UFC and MMA veteran Dennis Hallman (53-14-2, 1 NC). The 38-year-old has been competing since 1996 and will be looking to add this tourney win to a long and storied career that included several stints in the UFC, world title bouts and countless fights against some of the worlds best.
Guillotine expert Cody McKenzie (15-4) is also in the tournament. The 26-year-old posted a record of 3-4 in the UFC over the course of three years but was released at the end of last year following a loss to Sam Stout at a UFC on FOX event. Since then McKenzie has won one fight and now he will be looking to get another three wins and walk away with the 50k cash prize.
Joining Hallman and McKenzie are fellow UFC veterans Luigi Fioravanti (24-11), David Mitchell (14-4) and Josh Bryant (14-4). Also announced is undefeated prospect Chris Honeycutt (4-0) a NCAA National Wrestling Championship runner-up who has ran through his opponents so far with three first-round stoppages.
We expect the remaining two spots to be announced shortly so make sure to head over and ‘like’ the BattleGrounds MMA facebook page to keep on top of the news relating to this event.
