The very first ARES Fighting Championship event – ARES 1 – takes place this Saturday, December 14 live from Dakar, Senegal.
The event will mark the MMA debut of Oumar Kane aka Reug Reug aka The King, the undefeated heavyweight champion of Senegalese wrestling, a form of grappling which involves hand strikes and takedowns.
A national superstar and celebrated athlete in Senegal, Reug Reug stands 6-foot-5 and is just 27-years-old. For the past number of years he has spent traveling back and forth to New York to work on his fitness and overall MMA game ahead of his highly anticipated debut.
On Saturday he steps into the ARES arena against the formidable Sofiane Boukichou (6-3), a Cage Warriors veteran on a 5-1 run. Their fight will feature in the co-main event of the evening with a light heavyweight contest between Brazilian UFC veteran Ildemar Alcantara (26-13) and champion firefighter Laurynas ‘Captain Lithuania’ Urbonavicius (12-1) serving as the main event.
ARES 1 will feature a number of high profile veterans of the sport mixed with some of the most exciting prospects.
